Douglas Macgregor: Why NATO is Finished & the Ukraine War Was Lost
The rhetoric in this video, coming from a highly respected military leader no less, is alarming.
1. What are Russia's "national security interests" that must be recognized and that have made the Russians "very angry"? They feel threatened by Estonia and Poland? Or maybe they don't have enough territory to completely mismanage.
2. Which world leader *is not* a "prisoner of forces and circumstances"? Isn't that your job when you're a head of state, navigating "forces and circumstances?"
3. What is the guest's proposed rational solution to the various crises he sort of cynically describes?
Under the guise of "let's look at the reality of the situation", this guest seems to spend a lot of time apologizing for Russia, and arguing that maybe the US and the EU should also apologize to Russia... somehow.
But why? Why would we do that? Because Putin, like Trump, "means well"?
It's nice that people "mean well" but if you're still making some of the dumbest decisions in world history, then maybe you should proceed to the stage where you stop talking, resign, retire, go chill on a beach somewhere and leave the world alone.
Boohoo for real for these guys. Trump, like Putin, and kinda like this guest, are always whining about something, and of course it's always someone else's fault.
And then it really goes off the deep end:
- he voted for Trump but he's *really concerned* about the law being upheld
-> hilarious
- the kleptocrat is Zelenskyy, not Putin
-> good one
- back to the beginning: it's actually Russia that "feels threatened" by Ukraine
-> if he's such a student of military history, then surely he's aware that Russia has *never* been successfully invaded because, you know, its territory goes all the way to Japan... but Europe is the threat???
This guest is a deeply experienced veteran of the armed forces of the United States of America. So why is he systematically arguing and implying that authoritarians are the ones who have been slighted?
