Vietnam War
"Embers of War" by Frederik Logevall
Watch this YouTube video for seven minutes on the embers of war, a book by Harvard professor; in the seven minutes you get the whole overview of why the French and Americans failed in Indo China. Seven minutes!

What a tragedy. This was all completely apparent to anyone who was 14 or 15 or 24 at the time, but it still went on, for personal political reasons on the part of the men who made the decisions.

1 million Vietnamese… 100,000 French soldiers… 58,000 American soldiers… All for nothing. Military power alone cannot win wars.
