Cherry Blossom
Blooming like the Blossoms on the Tree
Cherry blossom

Did you know that A cherry blossom also known as Japanese cherry or Sakura is a flower of many trees of genus Prunus or Prunus subg. Cerasus. They are also a common species in East Asia, including China, Korea, and especially in Japan. Cherry blossoms are a symbolic flower of the spring, a time of renewal, and the fleeting nature of life. The lifespan of a cherry blossom is very short. After their beauty peaks around two weeks, the blossoms start to fall. The cherry blossoms trees have their name because of the village of Somei also known as Toshima in Tokyo. Cherry blossoms are always pink. They can come in many colors such as pale pink, bright pink, white or even ivory. For example in Washington DC most of the cherry blossom trees are filled with white blossoms. It is to be said that cherry blossom trees have many symbolic meanings. Some of the symbolic meanings that many choose to believe when a cherry blossom tree is seen are Good fortune, New beginnings and revivals. Others choose to believe although cherry blossom trees are seen as Beautiful that they can symbolize death. The picture of the cherry Blossom tree taken above was taken on my journey downtown Manhattan and I wanted to crack down the information background to Cherry blossom trees.
