Codex Gigas, the Devil's Bible

Codex Gigas which means "big book" or also known as "Satan's Code" "Devil's Code" or "The Devil's Bible".
It measures 92 cm long, 50 cm wide, and 22 cm thick. It has 360 sheets of vellum (the material that was used to make parchments) and is estimated to be made from the skins of 160 donkeys. It is so called because it has a large image on a devil's leaf. It was written in the 13th century during the Kingdom of Bohemia in the Czech Republic by an unknown monk. It is claimed that it was written by a single person. It is said that it took between 20 to 30 years to create it, so the scribe spent much of his life working on it.

The content:
Contains the entire Latin bible in the Vulgate version. With the exception of the books Acts and Revelation since they are a pre-vulgate version (vetus) It also contains a page of "spells", "Three spells and two spells", some of them known from Jewish sources (f. 286-291)

Interesting fact: Vetus latina is the first translation of the bible in Latin, Latin vulgate is the second version in Latin, I imagine it is a more modern language for that time. And Douay Rheims is the translation of the bible from Latin to English

Some of the myths out there about the book say,
There is a legend that says that the scribe gave his soul to the devil, (others call him "the prince of darkness") to help him create the book in one night. However there is another myth that says that the supposed monk was going to be convicted of a serious crime. In order for this penalty to be paid, the monk proposed to do a work to honor the monastery. He was given one night for this job and since he was superhuman he asked the devil for help and he put the condition that the image of him appear on one of the pages.
