Gifts given to the Untied Nations Headquarters

On August 1, 2018 students from Base went to the United Nations and saw many gifts given to this Global Organization.

The elephant in this picture is a 11-foot-tall statue given to the UN by Kenya, Namibia and Nepal on November 18 1998 and was made from the cast of a real African bull elephant. This elephant is known as "The Sleeping Elephant". The sculpture is the work of artist Mihail Simeonov and is located in the northwest corner of the North Garden of the UN Headquarters in New York.

It was amazing seeing all the gifts given to the UN. Knowing this statue has been there since 1998 and seeing it with my own eyes was an amazing experience.
