Creedmoor Mental Facility

In 1870, the Creed family purchased 200 acres of land leading to the creation of the Creedmoor mental facility located in Queens NY in 1912. Many have suffered throughout the years in Creedmoor with cases such as rape, the murder of a 39 year old man who was struck with a blackjack in a straitjacket, and suicide.

Deinstitutionalization hen became a trend due to antipsychotic medications. This led to dramatic budget cuts and increased populations resulting in the end of Creedmoor mental facility.
