For the past two weeks, I am been coming to the Summer Design Institute for game design in the Bronx to learn and put my knowledge to practice. Here, we were introduced to beginners' learning tools for programming, Godot, and to The Glass Files and MetaBronx. The goal is to make a minimal viable product to present to the class and the other group that is a part of the Summer Design Institute.
During the first week, we were introduced to the our routine of rotating between three rooms throughout the day to do different things such as programming. At the last part of the day, we were introduced to MetaBronx and The Glass Files.
During the second week, we were introduced to Godot and began learning higher order programming that are actually beyond the scope of the program so that was pretty cool. We also went to Pleasantville to visit the MetaBronx headquarters to see how they operate. We learned of what type of situation they are in during their business and met some of their people. My friend Justin and I had a short chat with Philip Shearer and we all seemed to know what we were talking about, especially since we were talking about the Crowdstrike outage that happened on that day. We went on the Metronorth to get to and from Pleasantville and that was my first time going on actual rails in North America, it was pretty nice, a lot better than the NYC Subway. Their headquarters was pretty interesting. They had a lot of goodies such as audio equipment and computers, both new and ancient, their internal storage servers, and a car seat. They also had lots of old media, all in CDs, it was pretty crazy seeing all of those cases.
During the last week, we developed a project to present on Thursday. We are working on our projects and rehearsing for the presentation to end the Summer Design Institute on a high note.
