The sheet music to Beethoven's final complete symphony
There are no official birth records for Ludwig van Beethoven, however, he was baptized on this day, in 1770.

Beethoven, one of the world's most famous composers and pianists, was born in Bonn, Germany, and learned music as a child with his father. In 1787, Archbishop-Elector of Cologne Maximilian Francis (of the Holy Roman Empire - his sister was none other than Marie Antoinette, queen consort to Louis XVI of France), patron of Beethoven, sent the composer to the European capital of art and music, Vienna, Austria. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had just passed away, and there, he met and worked with Joseph Haydn, as well as Antonio Salieri.

Pictured above, the sheet music to Beethoven's final complete symphony: "Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125" (1824), also known as "The Choral". Beethoven composed this work in almost complete deafness. "It seemed unthinkable for me to leave the world forever before I had produced all that I felt called upon to produce."
